- MACMC: Maryland Associate of
Community Mediation Centers
- The Maryland Association of Community
Mediation Centers (MACMC), a non-profit organization, advances community
mediation in Maryland through educating the public, training, networking,
research and creating new centers.
- Community mediation in Maryland is
provided by centers that are members of MACMC and follow the guidance of the
9-point model of community mediation. Community mediation centers offer free
or sliding scale mediation services to local community members. These
service are made possible by donations from community members, local
businesses, grants from foundations, and the Maryland Mediation and Conflict
Resolution Office (MACRO).
- Maryland Council and Dispute Resolution (MDCDR)
- MCDR promotes and expands the use of the high quality
Appropriate Dispute Resolution statewide by:
- Promoting ADR and consumer education/marketing
- Setting standards of practice and certification of
members.
- Strengthening education/skills of practitioners
- Eliciting commitment of practitioners to the field
- Being a resource to practitioners and community
(support and nurture)
- MCDR will change the way disputes are resolved in
Maryland. Our vision is a Maryland where all individuals use cooperative,
non-adversarial approaches to resolve their disputes, a Maryland where
cooperative, non-adversarial approaches to resolve conflict will be the
first resort, not the last.

- The Mediation and Conflict Resolution Center (MCRC) at
Howard Community College embraces
restorative
dialoguejustice---a process that promotes the empowerment of all
persons affected by a conflict to collectively identify and address harms,
needs, and obligations in order to make things right as possible. MCRC
promotes peaceful resolution of conflicts by providing mediation and
conflict resolution education and training to the Howard County community.

Resolution Office (MACRO)
- Under the leadership of the Honorable Robert M. Bell,
Chief Judge of the Maryland Court of Appeals, and with guidance from a
diverse, high-level Board, MACRO is a court-related agency, which serves as
an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) resource for the state, supports
innovative dispute resolution programs, and promotes the appropriate use of
ADR in every field. MACRO works collaboratively with many others across the
state to support efforts to advance effective conflict resolution practices
in Maryland's courts, communities, schools, state and local government
agencies, criminal and juvenile justice programs and businesses.

(MIT) Ombuds Office
- Our Mission: The MIT Ombuds Office serves as a
neutral, confidential, independent and informal resource to the diverse MIT
community - we are a resource for faculty, staff, students, and post-docs.
The office helps to surface very serious concerns, resolve disputes, manage
conflict, and educate individuals in more productive ways of communicating.
The Office advocates for a fair conflict management system and supports
systemic changes to achieve this goal.
- M.K. Gandhi Institute for
Nonviolence
- The M.K. Gandhi Institute for Nonviolence was founded
in 1991 by the grandson of Mahatma Gandhi,
Arun Gandhi, and his wife, Sunanda. The Gandhis provided seed money for
the Institute through the sale of Gandhiji’s letters to his son and
daughter-in-law (Arun’s parents), Manilal and Sushila. Sustaining funds come
from contributions, publications, program fees, and grants. The Institute is
hosted by Christian Brothers University, which graciously provides an office for
our work on nonviolence.
