- Kroc Institute for International
Peace Studies
- Dedicated to understanding the causes of violent
conflict and to identifying and promoting the conditions for sustainable
peace, the Joan B. Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies at the
University of Notre Dame engages in research, graduate and undergraduate
education, policy studies, and service to the local, national and
international communities. The Institute specializes in the religious and
ethnic dimensions of deadly conflict and peacebuilding; the ethics of the
use of force; and the peacemaking role of international norms, policies and
institutions, including a focus on economic sanctions and enforcement of
human rights. This research and policy orientation informs the Institute's
education and training of professional peacemakers, who are active in a
variety of settings globally.

- Lombard Mennonite Peace Center
- The
Lombard Mennonite Peace
Center (LMPC) ministry receives its impetus from II Corinthians 5:18 -
"All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave
us the ministry of reconciliation." Thus, LMPC seeks to ground its
peacemaking in a biblical understanding of salvation and Christian
discipleship.
- LMPC was conceived as a peace
resource center - sharing speakers, audio-visual resources, and literature
with churches and the broader public throughout the Chicago metropolitan
area and beyond. Initially LMPC was called upon to provide educational
resources on biblical peacemaking in regard to such issues as the nuclear
arms race, U.S.-Soviet relations, Central America, and other global issues.
- As a non-profit ministry, LMPC
works to encourage the nonviolent transformation of conflict in
relationships in homes, workplaces, schools, churches, and throughout our
world. Our programs and resources address ways of resolving conflicts and
building healthier relationships in all of these various settings.
